Elra Who?
As a child, Elra K. Gattermeir (formerly Norris) played with cameras which were obtained free with candy wrappers, recruiting little sisters and playmates as models. After learning to fly a plane, and seeking a purpose as all youths do, Elra accepted employment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the Seat of Government in Washington, D.C., and graduated to a top-notch Single Lens Reflex camera after achieving a personalized incentive award from FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.
While working for the federal government, Elra kept photography as a serious hobby and part-time business venture, obtaining a degree from the School of Modern Photography. For the past 30-plus years, Elra has lived in and photographed the wonder of 17 states, pursuing her love of nature, trees, and flowers, and capturing that love on film.
Moving back to the hills of West Virginia from where she hails, in 1999 Elra set up shop on the Internet as ELphotos, offering decor and stock photography for sale. After a prolonged illness, and seeing how important it is to receive get-well wishes from friends and family, it was a natural progression for Elra to put her work onto greeting cards, hopefully so others would be cheered by her images.
Elra's work has been showcased on the Internet by Awesome Originals, Fletcher Publishing, ArtTatoo, Watercolor Dream, Picturetrail, PhotoPoint, Print Life, and Photosource International. Her photographs have been on display in various locations such as Deep River Gallery (Asheville, NC), Cabell Huntington Surgical Center (Huntington, WV), The Herald Dispatch (Huntington, WV), Fletcher Publishing (Huntington, WV), Renaissance Gallery (Huntington, WV), Art Resources for the Tri-State (Huntington, WV) and the Senate Rotunda-National Capitol Building (Washington, D.C.).
Elra's work, both pictorial and written, has been utilized by various entities, including PHOTOgraphic, Fletcher Publishing, Xlibris, The Rutherford Institute, and Qualify Paperback Book Club. Awards have been received from Today's Photographer and Kodak International Newspaper Awards. Elra considers her greatest award to be the appreciation of her work by the people who buy her prints, cards and gifts.
Elra is a registered artist with the West Virginia Division of Culture and History and is a member in good standing of International Freelance Photographers Organization, Tri-State Art Association, North American Nature Photography Association and Professional Photographers of West Virginia.
In December 2003 Elra moved to Bonfield, Illinois south of Chicago and now photographs the wheat and cornfields that dot the farmland of the American midwest.

Photographer Elra K. Norris Writes Book
Faces Against the Wind is a story of two disparate, desperate star-crossed lovers. Set in the '70s, this is a tale of cruel fate which steps on the necks of two lost souls who believe that destiny brought them together for their own salvation. Persons can identify with the two complex characters, one a traditional bad boy with a heart of gold and the other a needy suicidal innocent who is capable of causing great emotional pain. Sacrifice on the part of both for the love of the other is the constant theme. People will mourn that these two lovers did not grow old together.
